About Bernice
I am a caring, patient and reliable Healthcare Assistant with experience in both hospital and domiciliary care. I enjoy supporting people and making a positive difference in their daily lives. Through my experience, I have learned that every person is different. Some people need more physical support, while others may need reassurance, encouragement or simply someone who will listen. I always try to understand the individual's needs and preferences and support them in a way that makes them feel comfortable and respected. I have supported people with personal care, mobility, nutrition and hydration, continence care and daily living activities. I also have experience supporting individuals with reduced mobility, including a service user living with the effects of a stroke. This has involved working with colleagues during double-up calls and using equipment such as a hoist and Sara Stedy to support safe mobility and transfers. I understand the importance of recognising changes in a person's condition and reporting concerns appropriately. I also take documentation, confidentiality, safeguarding and infection prevention seriously. My Experience and Skills My healthcare experience has helped me develop skills in: Personal and domiciliary care Supporting mobility and safe transfers Using moving and handling equipment Nutrition and hydration Supporting individuals with reduced mobility Stroke care support Catheter care Observing and reporting changes Record keeping and documentation Safeguarding and confidentiality Infection prevention and control Working independently and as part of a team Professional Development I believe it is important to continue learning and developing as a care professional. I have completed my Level 4 Advanced Health and Social Care qualification and also hold the Care Certificate. I have completed training in areas including Phlebotomy and Venepuncture, Dementia Care, End of Life Care, Manual Handling, Mental Capacity, Nutrition and Hydration, Pressure Area Care, Catheter Care, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding, and Equality, Diversity and Inclusion. What Matters to Me What I enjoy most about working in care is knowing that the support I provide can make someone's day easier or more comfortable. I always aim to treat people with kindness, patience and respect. I believe everyone deserves to be involved in their care and to have their choices respected. I am committed to providing safe, compassionate and person-centred care and to continuing to develop my skills throughout my healthcare career.
